I treat each child as an individual and with equal concern eg,

• I offer girls and boys the same activities.
• I provide activities that can be enjoyed by all the children, if they want to.
• I have equally high expectations of children whatever their gender, racial origins or disability.
• I give every child equal chances to learn and develop.

I take in to account each child’s age and stage of development, gender, ethnicity, home language and any disability.

I encourage children to develop a sense of their own identity and culture eg,

• 
I call children and their families by the names they prefer and spell and pronounce
 their names correctly
• 
I encourage children to understand that everyone looks different in some way and
that this is one of the things that make each of us unique and special.
• We celebrate things that are special to each of the children in my care – birthdays
and religious festivals.

I help children learn about cultures different from their own and to develop positive attitudes towards people who are different to themselves, for example books, puzzles, toys & equipment show:

• people from different racial origins and cultural backgrounds
• different family groupings
• people dressed in different ways
• disabled people
• different languages
